Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has announced that all workplaces covered under the Occupational Health & Safety Act must ensure that all workers have completed a basic health and safety awareness training program by July 1st, 2014. A 4 step guide has been established to help workers become aware of their role concerning health and safety in the workplace based on the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
This course is designed to help workers understand what the Occupational Health and Safety Act expects based on the 4 step model established by the Ministry. It will allow workers to better understand their roles and responsibilities in the workplace in order to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
This training further informs workers regarding the functions of the Joint Health and Safety Committee as well as the Health and Safety Representative and the benefits taking an active role in an organization’s health and safety. The training will also educate on the roles of the Ministry as well as WSIB and the common workplace hazards.
