|WORKING AT HEIGHTS – MOL APPROVED
As of April 1, 2015, employers in Ontario must ensure that workers on construction projects who use methods of fall protection successfully complete the ‘working at heights’ training that meets training program and provider standards established by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO).
The training requirement is for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection:
|JOINT HEALTH SAFETY COMMITTEE – MOL APPROVED
Any organization that has 20 or more employees must have a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) with at least two (2) certified members according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act section 9(2),(12) one representing management and one representing workers.
The course is broken up in two (2) parts these are: Certification training Part One which covers Occupational Health & Safety laws and the responsibilities for certified members for a duration of three (3) days in-class and Certification training Part Two which covers six (6) topics specific to the sector for a duration of two (2) days in-class.
|BASIC – INDUSTRIAL CONFINED SPACE RESCUE
Designed for private industry and business, this course provides responders with a basic understanding of incidents involving a confined space rescue. The program teaches responders to recognize hazards, access, stabilize and package victims and remove victims using the proper equipment and procedures for retrieval.
|CONFINED SPACE ENTRY
Confined Space Training offered by Greater Toronto Airports Authority Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute provides participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to work safely in a confined space environment. The course focuses on the Canada Labour code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Air monitoring, Personal Protective Equipment, simulated classroom scenarios and live entries on the second day using all previously acquired skills.
|ANNUAL FIT TESTING
As required by Occupational Health and Safety each person required to wear respiratory protection shall be fit tested using a qualitative testing method to determine proper fit of a face piece. The GTAA Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute offers this test to all persons who are required to wear a respiratory protection of any type.
|SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS
The Self Contained Breathing Apparatus Course was developed for those individuals who may require added respiratory protection in their line of work. It has been recognized for years the potential respiratory hazards that can be found in confined spaces, Freon, chlorine or other dangerous chemical storage areas. These chemicals have and will continue to pose a hazard to employees who must work in and around them. This course focuses on the proper care and maintenance as well as proper donning and use of the SCBA. As required by Occupational Health and Safety, each person required to wear Respiratory Protection shall be fit tested using qualitative testing method to determine proper fit of a face piece. This is included with this package.
|PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER
The portable fire extinguisher course focuses on how fires start, different classes of fire and the correct method to extinguish each class through the use of videos, demonstrations and a live fire scenario.
|WHEELED UNIT FIRE EXTINGUISHER
The Wheeled Unit Extinguisher course is designed for those persons who work in industry or at airports where there are fuel loads that require 110lb or 350lb wheeled extinguisher units. Each student will be instructed on the basic principals of firefighting as instructed in our portable fire extinguisher course. In addition each student will be given a live fire scenario where they will be expected to extinguish utilizing the supplied wheeled unit.
